It's fruit-picking season in our beautiful province. If you want to pluck your own berries right from the source without venturing too far from the city, Downey's Strawberry and Apple Farm is the place to go.

This scenic family-owned farm is located just outside of Brampton, but the peaceful country atmosphere will make you feel far away from the city.

Upon arrival, you’ll be given a clean fruit basket to take with you as you venture out into the fields.

The baskets come in various sizes depending on how many people you are visiting with.

Strawberries are the first fruit to ripen in the spring, and Downey's says that they will be ripe and ready for picking around June 20th, 2023.

However, weather can impact growing seasons, so be sure to check for the latest updates from the farm before you visit.

Be sure to wear comfy shoes and weather-appropriate clothes, as you’ll be walking around and picking fruit in the fields until your basket is full.

And be sure to return later in the season for more fruit! Raspberry picking takes place in July and apple picking begins in August.

The farm also has a variety of other seasonal products available, including sweet corn from late August to October, as well as pumpkins and squash starting in September.

While you’re in the Caledon area, you can drive the gorgeous Forks of the Credit Road and walk the scenic suspension bridge in Belfountain Conservation Area.

The town of Belfountain also has some charming shops and cafes that are worth visiting.

We’d call that the perfect summer day trip from the city!
