17 Hilarious Quotes From The Great British Baking Show That Confirm It Is Not, In Fact, Just A Baking Competition — It's A Comedy

Oct 17, 2024

Great British Baking Show Season 15 is officially on, and only a few episodes in, it's clear that Paul, Prue, Noel, and Allison are having more fun than ever on the show. They even had a good time filming what has to be one of the most bizarre intros to a reality series ever:

Allison is so Barbie.

To celebrate my favorite amateur baking competition's return to the small screen, I've compiled some of the most iconic quotes from The Great British Baking Show (or Bake-Off, if you're outside the US) inspired by a Reddit thread where other fans did the same. Here are the hysterical and heartwarming fan-favorite moments from over a decade of baking escapades that I love to quote:

1.When celebrity guest contestant James Acaster responded best to Paul Hollywood's question: "Can you tell us about your signature bake, please?":

2.When a contestant made a forest scene out of bread with a snail that looked... like something other than a snail:

3.When "Compost Carol," a fan-favorite in season 13, had a hilarious reason for feeling prepared to bake:

4.When contestants Andy and Jeff arrived in the tent wearing the same outfit, Andy joked that it was not a coincidence:

5.When Tamal, a finalist in season 6, lamented some of his choices during a technical bake. This one's very relatable, actually:

6.When Prue somehow turned a how-to for filling doughnuts into full-fledged erotica:

7.In season 10, when Noel and contestant Rosie formed the next Simon and Garfunkel with an unforgettable baking-related band name:

8.When Prue accidentally asked Nicky, a contestant, about something very intimate, when she only meant to talk about her cartoonish cake showstopper:

If you are a little confused, this British tidbit might help: "beaver" is UK slang for a vagina.

Nicky's "beaver" in question is, arguably, even funnier:

9.In season 12, when Lizzie had a very specific description for her ciabatta dough that was not at all appealing:

10.When Rahul, The Great British Baking Show's season 9 winner, was interviewed about how he felt starting dessert week, and he pulled out a literal glass of milk to calm his nerves:

Someone get Rahul a brand endorsement from Big Dairy.

11.When Noel met his match in the tent when it comes to telling wild stories (apparently, when it came to fashion, too):

This interaction was made even better by her amazing Liverpudlian accent.

12.When one contestant had a brutally self-deprecating response to Prue's review of his biscuit: "You would eat it if you were given it":

13.When Allison Hammond proved she had an incredible cheeky banter with a contestant having a discussion about blackberries, that was oh-so clearly not about blackberries:

14.When Noel had some sarcastic words of encouragement for Matty when he was having difficulty frosting his cake:

15.During Halloween week, when Noel asked about the spookiest topic of all: our fears. Instead of the usual suspects like snakes and spiders, Kevin had a hilarious answer about his competitive job:

16.In season 15, when Mike included his boyfriend in his signature bake with a few choice words:

17.And finally, an inspirational musing from the Season 6 winner; when Nadiya said the most earnest self-affirming, and brave thing ever spoken on British television after winning the whole dang thing:
